- Speak slowly.
People with low self-esteem often speak quickly, because they don’t want to keep others waiting on something not worthy of listening to. Speaking slowly allows others to perceive you as someone with authority and confidence.
2. Write affirmations on sticky notes
Reading “I’m beautiful”, “I will get this promotion”, “I’m worth more than others opinions of me” isn’t a bad way to start the day. Put the sticky notes on your bathroom mirror, at your desk, or on your fridge to remind yourself that you are awesome.
3. Tidy up
Cleaning up your work and living spaces can do wonders for your mental state. A clean environment can be the calm away from the storm and allows you to feel in control of your life.
4. Groom yourself
It seems obvious — but it’s amazing the effect your physical appearance can have on your self-esteem. Take a shower, give yourself a manicure, or moisturize your skin for an instant pick-me-up.
5. Do something charitable for somebody else
It’s easy to get consumed by our own thoughts and insecurities, so focusing on somebody else can help get you out of your own head. Doing good deeds can also build your self-esteem as you reaffirm to yourself that you are, in fact, a good person.
