‘WE COULD MAKE OUT AND IT WOULDN’T BE ENOUGH’
It’s been a week since the Migos released their new song, “Motor Sport” featuring Nicki Minaj and Cardi B. And while it didn’t take long for rumors about the two dissing each other on the same track to start circulating, they quickly got laid to rest when Minaj took to Twitter (tweets have since been deleted) to share her side of how “Motor Sport” came about.
Both rappers have denounced all rumors of there being an issue, but lets take a quick look at their history.
May 2017 – Minaj Name Drops Offset in “Swish Swish” Verse
Minaj raps, “Silly rap beefs just get me more checks” and followed up with a line where she called out Cardi’s now-fiancé Offset. “My life is a movie, I’m never off set/ Me and my amigos (no, not Offset),” she said.
May 2017 – Cardi Vents on Instagram Live About Idols Becoming Rivals (Video NSFW)
Cardi may have heard the Offset name drop because shortly after the single was released, the Bronx rapper took to Instagram live to vent and explain how she was much happier in the Bronx where she could address her detractors head-on. (Her vent lasts for about the first two minutes.)
July 2017 – Minaj Dances to “Bodak Yellow” at a Nightclub
Hmm…Minaj was seen dancing along to Cardi’s infectious summer hit “Bodak Yellow.” Could this be a subtle way of showing Cardi support?
August 2017 – Minaj Takes Subliminal Shots on “No Flag”
The Queens rapper was encouraged to address her enemies on the track and she opened with the lines, “Lil’ bitch I heard these labels try’na make another me/ Everything you getting little hoe is cause of me.” This verse came just months after Cardi inked her deal with Atlantic Records, but Minaj denied that she was targeting Cardi on Twitter.

August 2017 – Cardi Addresses a Mystery Woman During a Performance in New York (Video NSFW)
Cardi took a moment to call out an unnamed woman who was acting a bit fake to her.

October 2017 – Motor Sport Collaboration
Cardi claimed the track was a collaboration dream and that doing the song together would extinguish any so called “beef” the two had for each other.

So whether there is beef or not, it doesn’t matter because both rappers are preparing to drop upcoming albums. Maybe they’ll drop them on the same day just to stir up the pot. I wouldn’t be surprised.
