BARZ NEWS | Utah’s Benjamin Major Drops New EP

Support local always.

BARZ Season 2 alumni Benjamin Major just dropped a new 4-song project – The Dog Dayz EP. Produced, mixed/mastered and engineered by Malixe. I love that the community of music in Utah is so diverse with different styles and influences. After he finished the project Benjamin rolled through the station to deliver me one of his latest merch hats and I asked him a few questions about the project..

E – “So what’s the story behind The Dog Dayz EP and your amazing art work (lol)”

B – “I was having a barbecue for my birthday in May and I took a picture of my dog in a kiddie pool filled with ice and a Miller High Life next to him. One of my friends told me that it would make for a good album cover and I thought of the Dog Dayz EP right then and there.”

E – “What’s the vibe like to you on this versus your last album release?”

B – “The sound on this project compared to my album I put out in April is much different. I was leaning more towards lo-fi, boom bap, chill instrumentals. I knew I wanted to stick with one producer for the project and so I went with my good friend and EDM artist Malixe with the idea… these are some of the best songs I’ve recorded and really brought me back to my main goal with creating music.. to just have fun and create something I think is beautiful.”

Love to everyone in Utah pushing your art form and our culture forward. I’ll do my part as much as possible to highlight our Utah talent.. but remember it takes the support of the community to help things move in the right direction. Stream their music. Buy some merch. Follow their socials. Watch the videos and like and comment. Support those that support you.. we’re in this together.
