Besides doing radio, I have a long love for the art of Turntablism. Musically, I’ve always wanted to play an instrument. But ever since my mother could not afford my piano lessons at age 10, I thought that I would never be able to contribute to the music world. I’ve always been amazed at the DJs on rap records growing up, so it was natural to move into that realm. To me, DJ’n is more than just playing other peoples music. It’s a musical art form itself. Back in 2004.. (wow over 10 years ago) I was in the DMC US Finals. The DMC has been considered as the “Olympics of DJing”.
I still remember making Pause/Mixtapes in JR High School then selling them in Spanish class. LOL Well here I am today, still living the DJ life on radio and in clubs. I’ve raised my youngest in the DJ culture too. He is a Bad Ass on the wheels, and I’m not speaking as a parent. Ian has skills! He was even featured on EDM.com, World Star and ThisIs50.com since he was 8 years old.
Well here is a video I made practicing some “Joe Cooley” cuts. (Joe Cooley is a west coast DJ who’s speedy scratch style is known all over the world. He is also one half of RODNEY O & JOE COOLEY from back in the day.)
