SPIT THAT FIRE!
When we think of musical artist we think ok they make music but what makes the artist? To me what makes an artist is the ability not to stay trapped in one mode, rather that be only staying in Hip-Hop or only music in general. Spit is a true artist, being able to not only give us great music but have a business mind to set herself nicely for the future. I had the opportunity to sit-down with this amazing talented artist and talk music, life and culture. Enjoy.
Q&A with SPIT
Q1. What does it mean to you to be in this space of music and entrepreneurship?
A: It means dreams really do come true. Growing up in LA, I didn’t see a lot of people that looked like me succeed. Im the minority. I’m a black lesbian rapper. So many doors have opened for me and I’m just grateful.
Q2. Do you think change is necessary for growth?
A: Change is absolutely necessary for growth. I always think back to John Wooden’s quote. “We can have no progress without change”. In order to elevate you have to do something different.
Q3. Where do you see Spit in the next 5 years?
A: In 5 years I see myself dominating the airway. I want to continue writing and telling my story through my music.
