It’s no surprise the Utah Jazz basketball has been quite exciting the last 2 seasons especially with guard Donovan Mitchell leading the team to new heights. You may have also noticed he has a sense of community and truly loves Utah and his fans young and old. His giving spirit has gone noticed not just locally but even on a national level. His most recent gesture was giving the daughter of his former elementary school teacher a check for $25,000 to pay for her tuition. The act of kindness was funded thru his SPIDACARES foundation as well as a match from Adidas and Footlocker. Tuesday afternoon a bridge in downtown SLC was named in his honor.
(From ABC 4) A Iarge bridge at the center of The Gateway was officially renamed The Donovan Mitchell Bridge. It’s part of a $100 million redevelopment project in the sports, arts and entertainment district.
Local artists Chuck Landvatter and Jared Andrew Smith collaborated to create a mural for the bridge that crosses 100 South at Rio Grande Street.
The Gateway owners say the bridge will serve as a reminder of SPIDA’s kindness throughout the community.
