Falling In Love Also Means Gaining Weight, How Much Weight Can You Expect To Gain In Your New Relationship?

It may be no secret that when you start a new relationship, you find yourself eating out more and perhaps sharing a few too many bottles of wine. Enjoying staying in instead of working out, and gaining that “Love Happy” weight. But, how much weight can you expect to gain in your new relationship?

A recent study suggested three out of four Americans in a relationship have packed on some extra pounds, known as “love weight.” What’s the average? 36 pounds may be put on after getting into a new relationship, with 17 of those being added just in the first year. The reason behind this is primarily when one begins to feel comfortable with their partner, they let their guard down and simply let go of the feeling of having to look a certain way.

People in relationships who gain “love weight” can also try to work it back off together, creating a strong bond over healthy habits! 60 percent said they eat healthy together, 52 percent say they work out with their partner, and 40 percent said they do both!

Is “love weight” something you have discussed with your partner or noticed in your relationship? Have you tried to form healthier habits?
