While we have seen many NBA players stand and show respect to our country during the National Anthem, most don’t do what has been instilled with us since grammar school. I always remembered how important it was to put our hand over our heart each morning during the National Anthem. I’ve seen many NBA games since childhood, and wondered why we as fans hold our hands so proudly over our hearts while players don’t.
I believe our own Utah Jazz All-Star, Gordon Hayward has challenged his colleagues to step up. While millions looked forward to a great game as the West took on the East, many noticed Hayward looking humbled during our countries song. Though he scored 8 points, had 4 steals, 2 assists, and 1 rebound… It was the respect for our country that made him my MVP! His hand over his heart showed that we here in the state of Utah are class acts.
Thank you Hayward!
