I have so much love for those who serve our country. If I see you in uniform when I’m out and about, I will give you thanks. On this Veterans Day, I want to acknowledge those wonderful Native Americans that sacrificed their lives for us too.
It had to be hard back in the day when my Native people had to serve a military that at one time were enemies to us. But as a matter of fact, it was a special unit known as the Navajo Code Talkers that helped win World War II.
It was our Navajo language that at a time, was banned from most government boarding schools who educated my people. Some may never be aware about the Navajo Code Talkers. It’s because most of our school teachings left this special group of men out of text books. It was our Navajo language that the United States government relied on to help our military become victorious. I am proud to be a Navajo and I am proud of our history and culture.
I have many relatives who serve and some of my closets friends have and still do protect this nation.
I Salute All Of You! What ever race you may be, we are all Americans. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!
