Hey it’s Dizz ~
I had the honor to be one of the judges last night for U92’s The DJ Competition, along side by boys DJ Erockalypze, Handsome Hands, and Jay R the Superstar. It was a nostalgic feeling watching my fellow DJ friends battle it out for a spot to be an All-Star Mixer. Each DJ only had five minutes to show us their best skills, and I was shocked at all the talent in the room! From seeing sets showcasing seamless scratching, blending, beat juggling, rocking doubles, song selection and hyping the crowd. My mind was blown with how many awesome DJ’s our city has. I was also impressed with the respect shown from DJ to DJ no matter their skill set. So much love and encouragement shown from the packed room full of strangers cheering every contestant too. I felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness for my friends and acquaintances getting on that stage and I wasn’t even in the competition LOL. Growing up I remember looking up to the U92 Mixshow DJ’s and always hoping to be a part of their team. Now that I am, I’m stoked to a part of making that dream come true for someone else. We have some amazing local talent and I’m proud of all 20 contestents that showed us what amazing talent Utah has for DJ’s. Big shout out and props to you all… I can’t wait to see who is selected for the third phase, the On-Air battle!!!
