The sound of G Funk is too familiar to my life story. The 90’s meant Air Jordans, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Snoop Doggy Dogg, DJ Quik, Tim Brown of the Raiders and WARREN G! So you know I am super excited to see that one of my hero’s since back in the day is coming to SLC for a free concert!
Warren G was the soundtrack to my adolescence. When I first heard “Regulators” and the melodic sound coming out of Long Beach, I was hooked! Now most of us know his album ‘Regulate G Funk Era’ is a classic, but his production behind the boards is what I admire most. If you were to ask me what my all time favorite album is? It is with out a doubt the Warren G produced, ‘Twinz – Conversation‘!
The Twinz’ album sticks out so much because I just had my son Kendrik a little after it’s initial release in 1995.
A proud new father with a bumpin’ system in my Nissan. The homies would see me cruisin’ the streets of Ogden in my Locs and Ben Davis Gorilla Cut. Not quite old enough to get in the clubs, so this CD was my House Party go to! Fast forward 20 years later and you can still see me cruisin’ the Lake City streets. Still sportin’ my Ben Davis gear.
Of coarse bumpin’ my favorite Warren G produced joint, “JUMP TA THIS”!
