This past week we lost a huge figure in Hip Hop! Malik Izaak Taylor, known to the world as Phife Dawg, who was also known as the “5 Foot Assassin”, died from kidney complications. In2008 he underwent a kidney transplant which his wife was the donor. The life-changing transplant was documented in Michael Rapaport’s film “Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest”.
The Queens, New York artist will be forever missed but will be live through us with his group’s timeless classics! My pick this week is a video that most fans from Hip Hop may remember him best because of his lyrical deliverance in “Buggin’ Out.” I loved his crazy eyes in this video! R.I.P. Phife.
