Over the past year, my guy Chris had been diligent in keeping me posted on all things POE. Showing me local love via meet and greets, getting looks on stations across the country I thought Poe was talented. Well they both showed up on a snowy day, and I so happened to have my homie Jordan aka my video sensei with me and what happened next is the video above.

Enjoy an interview following the shoot below..

E: When did you fall in love with music?

POE: I fell in love with music when I was about 14 years old. I had a lot of friends but I didn’t feel like any of them understood me. And I found understanding through music.

E: Who inspires you musically?

POE: I feel that Alessia Cara inspires me. She seems so comfortable with herself and just comfortable with her surroundings.

E: Where did you learn how to write music?

POE: I learned by myself to write music, play instruments, and sing. Most of what I learned to play was by ear at first. Then I began to search on youtube how to play my own chords.

E: Where do you want music to take you?

POE: I want my music to take me all around the world. I want to be able to reach the biggest stages and entertain the biggest audiences.

E: Who’s in your playlist? What musically are you feeling lately?

POE: I very much admire Kehlani. Her style of fashion and the way her raspiness completes her music makes me want to embrace my own uniqueness.

E: Utah born and raised? What’s your story?

POE: I was born in Mexico. I moved to Rockford, Illinois, which is an hour outside of Chicago, when I was about a year old. And i moved to utah when I was 13 years old.

E: What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

POE: One thing most people don’t know about me is that I love coffee. I love trying different kinds of coffee and I was raised around coffee. I used to wake up every morning to the aroma of freshly made coffee because of my mother.

E: Last minute shout outs?

POE: I want to give a special shoutout to the first person who put all of their faith and resources into my carreer as an artist. That person is Christopher Bush, the self-made CEO of Steezy Boy Records, and also my manager.

E: What are your current projects? What’s next? Who do you want to work with?

POE: One of my current projects is my very first, headlining concert on April 16th at the O2 SLC. Next, I plan on getting in contact with someone who has the spotlight and is able to help me catch a little limelight for myself and Steezy Boy Records. I would love to one day work with Kehlani, or Alessia Cara.
