HOMETOWN HEROS
On July 11th, Chick-Fil-A held its 13th annual “Cow Appreciation Day”, (commonly know as “Free Chick-Fil-A Day”) where the restaurant chain offers a free entree to guests who visit the restaurant dressed as a cow.
For one group of Utah students, “Free Chick-Fil-A Day” meant more than free lunch. Jared Avery, Alex Jimenez, Austin Ramsey, and Brig Rush saw an opportunity to give back, and they visited Chick-Fil-A’s around the state to collect sandwiches and feed the homeless. The four even rode around in style in a homemade, cow-themed van.
South Jordan local, Brig Rush, told U92,
“We had the idea to hit up all these Chick-Fil-A’s so the next obvious question was, ‘what are we gonna do with all of this extra food?’ and it came to us pretty quick that we should give it to those who really need it.”
The group of friends visited 13 Chick-Fil-A’s across the state and delivered over 50 sandwiches to the homeless plus a group of firefighters.
“We met some really cool people from different countries all over the world. It was awesome seeing how such a small act of service can brighten someone’s day.”
said Rush.
