mary-j-blige-strength-of-a-woman-album-cover-art Yoooooo I’m so excited for this album to drop. My Woman Crush Wednesday Miss Mary J. Blige is returning with a new R&B album, “The Strength Of A Woman” this Friday, April 28! Blige has already released some singles from the new album including, “Love Yourself” feat. Kanye West , “Thick of It” produced by DJ Camper (Tamar Braxton, John Legend, Chris Brown) and “U + Me” (Love Lesson). She’s also releasing a documentary, The Making Of: The Strength Of A Woman that gives us an inside look at her emotional journey behind the making of the album. It’s narrated by Diddy aka Puff Daddy and features cameos from artists like Dj Khaled, Missy Elliott, and Jazmine Sullivan.

“For almost 20 years, she has been writing and singing music that both cuts us and helps us heal at the same time,” says Diddy in the documentary. “Her realness, music, style, energy, and performance make her loved by millions.”

Diddy is speaking the truth! When talking about her divorce from husband Kendu Isaacs in the documentary Blige said, “[Divorce is] not something I wanted to do but I had no choice, I’m not writing an album preaching to anyone about what they should do. I’m literally trying to heal myself through writing, singing, through some kind of way, getting it out of my system.”

So whether or not you’re going through some relationship drama or heartaches or even none of the above, I think it’s safe to say that Mary J. Blige always brings some truth and realness to her music and we all come away stronger because of it. We’re here for you Mary and I can’t wait to see it and hear it!!! The album drops this Friday and the documentary premiers on VH1 May 2 at 11 p.m.  #WCW #WomenToFollow
