“Hey Alexa…”
If you’re like me, Amazon’s “intelligent personal assistant” Alexa makes scheduling everyday tasks really convenient, but Alexa’s (I guess we could say) personality is starting to creep people out. It hasn’t happened to mine or my roommates Amazon Echo yet, but some owners are starting to get seriously freaked out by Alexa’s creepy laugh.
Twitter is full of tweets with different experiences from users.
Having an office conversation about pretty confidential stuff and Alexa just laughed. Anybody else ever have that?
It didn’t chime as if we had accidentally triggered her to wake. She simply just laughed. It was really creepy.

Lying in bed about to fall asleep when Alexa on my Amazon Echo Dot lets out a very loud and creepy laugh… there’s a good chance I get murdered tonight.

Even Jimmy Kimmel felt like he needed to chime in and test it out, and it’s actually pretty frightening, especially if you were home alone.
Amazon responded in a statement to The Verge, explaining: “We’re aware of this and working to fix it.”
