Bye Bye Hip-Hop Cash Princes
Cardi B, Post Malone, and others had a monstrous 2017, with their Billboard Hot 100 singles and Forbes wants to recognize the upcoming artists. They’ve done this list for years although it used to be called “Hip-Hop Cash Princes” (female exclusive.) Forbes has decided to rename it to “Hip-Hop’s Future Moguls” to be more inclusive and have more diversity. This made way for the likes of Cardi B.
Post Malone also made the list. Although, anybody could’ve called that. When you have two of the five most consumed hip-hop songs of the year with “Congratulations” and “Rockstar” you’re an automatic lock for this list.
According to the Forbes article, Wendy Day, founder of Rap Coalition had this to say,
“Talent mixed with weirdness is a recipe for success in today’s society…I realized [Malone] would get to the money quickly when a 60-year-old woman at the LAX airport pulled up in her convertible bumping ‘Rockstar.’”
The experts on the Hip-Hop Future Moguls panel included Wendy Day, Charlamagne Tha God, Rocky Bucano, and Natalie Robehmed.
In order to be eligible for the list, nominees had to be under the age of 30 and couldn’t have appeared in a prior class, even as members of a group.
