Kanye West the College Dropout just received an honorary degree from the School of Art Institute of Chicago. In attendance for the big day was his wife Kim Kardashian who tweeted how proud she was of him, and how she knew his mother would be proud too. West previously attended Chicago’s American Academy of Art and Chicago State University, but left before he earned any degrees in order to pursue a career in music. Dr West stated that this doctorate is a “recognition”, and was noted as being shy and nervous at the ceremony. “When I was giving a lecture at Oxford, I brought up this school because when I went on that mission to create in other spaces, apparel, film, performance, it would have been easier if I could have said that I had a degree at the Art Institute of Chicago.” He said in his acceptance speech.

“No Curfew” said Prince as he “rallied 4 peace” at a surprise show in Baltimore Sunday night, his first there in 14 years. For those who missed the live show, some audio from the concert was streamed for free on TIDAL. He requested that the crowd wear gray to symbolize “a message of our shared humanity and love for one another”, and also as a tribute to Freddie Gray, who died of police brutality after his arrest last month. His Purple Majesty played hit after hit after hit during his 2 ½ hour set, including extended medleys different versions of already favorite songs. During his second encore The Artist Formerly Known As ran a slew of acoustic slow jams for all the mothers in the crowd celebrating Mother’s Day. This show had elements of a regular old Prince concert but also incorporated protest moments, with him dedicating the evening to families mourning loved ones (reportedly in the audience were family members of Gray, Mike Brown, and Eric Garner).
