Dame Time in SLC – Damian Lillard Wins
Damian Lillard won the NBA Three-Point Contest on Saturday night as part of All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City. And he did it while wearing his old Weber State jersey. The eleven-year vet faced stiff competition from some of the NBA’s best shooters, including former contest winner Buddy Hield, Jayson Tatum, and Lauri Markkanen. The contest featured two rounds. Jazzman and all-star Markkanen, Hero, Huerter, Randle, and Taytum were eliminated in the first round. While Lillard, Hield, and Haliburton made enough threes to qualify for the final round.
Dame told the media he felt confident and that winning the event would be a career milestone. During the press conference, he stated that he might not be the best shooter of all time, but with his shooting prowess, he could stand toe-to-toe with anyone else in the league’s history. And he proved that in the second round by sinking enough threes to win the contest.
“I really believe Damian Lillard… he’s gonna close the game out.”
