Donald Glover is working on a new Amazon series, “Swarm,” inspired by Beyoncé’s fanbase, BeyHive, as it looks at a young woman obsessed with a pop star. The series follows the heroine’s fandom, taking her to “dark, unexpected places.” The show stars Dominique Fishback (Judas and the Black Messiah), Beyoncé’s protegé Chloe Bailey, and Damson Idris from “Snowfall.”
Also in the writer’s room for the series was former president Barack Obama’s daughter, Malia. “She’s just, like, an amazingly talented person,” said Glover. “She’s really focused, and she’s working really hard. I feel like she’s just somebody who’s gonna have really good things coming soon. Her writing style is great.”
Last year, Glover revealed he had been working on new music, but it has yet to see the light of day.
