Escort Claims “Conservative” Utah Lawmaker Paid Her For Sex

News broke yesterday that St. George lawmaker, Jon Stanard, abruptly resigned from the Utah State Legislature stating “personal and family reasons”.

Shortly after, The Daily Mail published a report claiming that in 2017, Stanard paid a Salt Lake City escort $250 for two separate encounters. The tabloid even published text screenshots between the two, allegedly, from the call-girl herself, Brie Taylor. She has also been actively making comments on Twitter, like in this response to the initial news:

Stanard, who is married and a member of the LDS church, stated on his website that he is an advocated for “conservative, family values”, and he previously voted for anti-pornography and anti-prostitution laws.

The Daily Mail quoted Taylor as saying, “People here will be grossed out and appalled by this. They thought they knew him. I was surprised when I found out that he voted in favor of stricter laws.”

The House Speaker’s office said their will be no investigation of ethics because Stanard is no longer a lawmaker. Stanard has declined to comment.
