Feedback noted…
Marvel’s Black Panther was arguably the biggest movie at the box office this year, not to mention how monumental it was for black America as a celebration of black excellence.
So when Forever 21 chose to use a white model to sell their “Wakanda Forever” sweater, Twitter went in on them.
Wakanda bullshit is this, @Forever21? pic.twitter.com/S4ZVryPXWB

However, other’s were quick to point out that the white model doesn’t bother them.
Soooooo…it doesn’t bother me that a white person is wearing that Wakanda Forever sweater. I think it’s dope that after years of black kids wearing superman and a host of white heroes, a black hero is right there in the mix.

The retailer has since removed the photo from their website and issued a statement.
“Forever 21 takes feedback on our products and marketing extremely seriously. We celebrate all superheroes with many different models of various ethnicities and apologize if the photo in question was offensive in any way.
Was Forever 21 in the wrong? Will you buy the sweater?
