French Montana Reveals What His Trip To Uganda Taught Him

“I just feel proud I saved myself and saved a lot of people…”

Just over a year ago (March 2017) French Montana took a trip to Uganda to film the music video for “Unforgettable.” Montana states that before this trip he lost the motivation to make music and was looking for something to fill the void. The hearts and spirits of the Ugandan people taught him a valuable lesson.

In the clip below Montana shares that he lost two of his best friends. The love he had for music went away because the people that used to motivate him weren’t there anymore. Looking for motivation, French saw how happy the people in Uganda with basically nothing like we have here.

During his trip to the East African country, Montana visited a hospital where he saw there were only two rooms to treat over 300,000 people. He saw women and children without health care and felt that he needed to help out and lend a hand.

Montana has teamed up with Mama Hope and Global Citizen and has facilitated significant improvements in that community. He joined forces with Sean “Diddy” Combs and The Weeknd, and raised over $500,000 to benefit the Suubi Health Center. He also broke ground on the brand new Suubi Hospital.

What’s the most valuable lesson that he learned while out there?

“It just made me realize happiness is within. You’ll never be rich unless you’re rich in heart.”
