The national wait is over, now that Janet Jackson is releasing her first album in over seven years. The pop star will be dropping her album come fall sometime on her own record label, Rhythm Nation Records. She may have been hinting at this album for a long time coming, introducing the hashtag #conversationsinacafe to her almost 3 million twitter followers. Also linked in the same tweet was a 30 second teaser video on her website.

Apple has started a massive recall for their Beats Pill XL wireless speaker line for being a fire hazard, and not just because the speakers continually are pumping out the hottest hits of today and yesterday. The recall effects over 220,000 US speakers, and another 11,000 in Canada. Seems the problems has to do with an overheating battery. Apple will be issuing refunds for the speakers in question, so now the only reason why your summer pool party will go up in flames is because someone burned the barbecue.

Death by Booty! BET network freelancer Kelly Mayhew died the other day due to complications of illegal butt enhancers. The doctor responsible for her death has also performed up to 5 other illegal processes in a basement in Queens. Mayhew died on her way back to Maryland immediately following the procedure. Her mother, who was in the car with her, attempted CPR and called the police, but to not avail. The doctor could not be reached for comment, as he fled the scene not to long after, and has since deleted all his social media accounts.

Chet Haze, son of Tom Hanks put the “oh” in uh-oh. Chet Haze, a caucasian rapper, dropped the “N” word in one of his songs in a performance. Scrilla King who was a friend of his (who is Afro-American) for the better part of six years, ended his collaborations with the would be rap star. Dej Loaf and Tink made the Freshman of the Year list for 2015. These two women power house jumped into the Hip Hop scene with fire in their eyes filled with determination. Dej Loaf who is at the top of the list has been featured on a couple of famous hits out right now. One of which is “Be Real”. Tink is also another female artist who puts on a good showing on the track “Wet Dollars”. Both female rappers are making heavy waves. We cannot wait for their solo albums to drop to fully embrace these two new additions to Hip Hop.

Pharrell Williams curated a soundtrack for the movie “Dope”. The soundtrack includes Hip Hop’s most influential artists: A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, Nas and Digable Planets to name a few. This movie was picked up from the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. No word yet on when the movie is going to drop. With classic hits from Naughty By Nature also debuting on the soundtrack, I am sure this is going to be the movie to watch.
