New Study Claims Going to Concerts Regularly Will Help You Live Longer

Regular concert attendance could increase your life expectancy by nine years…

new study conducted by O2 and behavioral science expert Patrick Fagan of Goldsmith University has found a link between regular concert attendance and a longer life expectancy.

The study states that attending concerts once every two weeks could increase life expectancy by nine years. The research is centered around a link between overall reports of well-being and longer lives, based on psychometric and heart-rate tests at a range of well-being activities.

The research suggests, “there is an alternative cure for those struggling to find their Mr. Brightside, and it can be found at your local music venue –  with just 20 minutes of gig-time resulting in a significant 21% increase in feelings of well-being.”

“The gig experience increased participants feelings of wellbeing by 21%…feelings of self-worth (+25%) and closeness to others (+25%) whilst mental stimulation climbed by an impressive 75%.”

The key to all of this? It’s simply not just the music. Over two thirds (67%) of those surveyed said that experiencing live music makes them feel happier rather than simply listening to music at home. The shared experience is key to increased well-being.
