The legendary hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest recently released their last official album We Got It From Here, Thank You 4 Your Service. After the release of the project and the loss of Phife Dawg, the group has decided to go their separate ways.
Luckily for Q-Tip, he’s already on to his next gig which is co-teaching a course on jazz’s influence in hip hop this fall semester at New York University.
Q-Tip expressed his excitement with a press release stating:
“I couldn’t be more excited to share with the students what I know, and I look forward to them also teaching me… Teaching is an exchange of sharing and receiving for all involved.”
The course will be based upon the works of Public Enemy, The Roots, Lauryn Hill, and somewhat newcomer Kendrick Lamar all under the mentorship of Q-Tip himself.
