Life

Prince dead at age 57. His music was such an impact on my life.

I still remember a little silver boom box and how powerful it was to have music with me anywhere at any moment in time. The sounds of Michael Jackson, Grandmaster Flash, Herbie Hancock and of course the man himself, Prince Rogers Nelson also known to the world as PRINCE.

According to reports, the singer was battling flu-like symptoms after a show in Illinois and was rushed to the hospital. He was found in his Minnesota Estate early this morning dead at 57 years of age (4/21/2016). The Carver County Sheriffs Department is investigating his death but noted that it does not look like foul play at this time.

Breakdancing on a piece of cardboard was the norm during my childhood. I can remember like it was yesterday, summertime in the 80’s. My older cousin Michael Haswood would watch my younger brother and I while my mother who was a single parent at the time worked all day. He was and still is the biggest Prince fan I have ever known! Mike would wear out cassettes of the great late musician. No complaints here, because I fell more in love with the man’s legacy. Thank you, Michael for implanting the sweet sounds of “Purple Rain”, “I Would Die 4 U”, “Raspberry Beret”, “Let’s Go Crazy” and so many more Prince classics in my head.

Talk about a wonderful producer also! Landing his talents to Sheila E, The Time, Sheena Easton, The Bangles and many many more! Even one of my favorite Electro Kings, Egyptian Lover said Prince was one of his biggest inspirations!

You will be forever missed. Who would of ever known that there would come a day where James Brown, Michael Jackson and Prince would be gone from this earth? Here is a video of all three musical Icons sharing the stage together. (Of course Prince was there to take the shine!) EPIC VIDEO!

Rest in Peace to one of the most iconic figures in music history. Your star will shine on forever! In memory of Prince Rogers Nelson.
