End of an era…
The New Yorker Restaurant closed its doors for good Monday, October 15. It had been one of downtown Salt Lake’s top fine dining restaurant options over the past 40 years.
While we still have no exact word as to why the sudden closure, my guess would be that they never recovered after the Salt Lake County Health Department announced that as many as 650 customers who consumed food or beverages at the New Yorker Restaurant between July 25 and Aug. 15 were exposed to hepatitis A. During that time period, an employee worked while infected and potentially handled certain food or beverage items.
While the employees were sad to learn of the sudden closure, they’ve all been offered the opportunity to work at the company’s other restaurants (Market Street Grill and Oyster Bar).
