SLC-Parking Meter Officers Fired For Taking Free Pizza In Exchange For Parking Tickets

This story would be funnier if it was donuts, but who can blame them? Free Pizza?!

4 officers were recently fired after an investigation revealed that they had been taking free pizza in exchange for not ticketing the pizza employees that parked in the metered parking. The city claims the officers struck a deal with the employees, agreeing to allow them to park in the metered parking spaces without citation, for free pizza.

The owner of the pizza parlor in Downtown SLC heavily denies the allegations saying “There’s no deal with anybody, no free slices. Three dollars. Everybody can afford $3.”

He did admit that he would allow the officers to hang out in his break room to stay warm and rest, but is firm on the fact he never allowed them to have free pizza in exchange for parking.”To set up free parking for $3 a slice is not worth it. I never have any deal with the city. I never have a deal with anybody,” he said. “You think this is worth jeopardizing somebody’s job?” He’s also stated he does not believe any of his employees made the deal either.

Not going to lie, I would have definitely jeopardized my job for free pizza. Well done Parking Meters, well done.
