According to recent reports, the government is cracking down on tax fraud by watching taxpayers’ social media accounts.
For example, a Florida woman named Rashia Wilson posted to her Facebook about being the “queen of IRS tax fraud”. This post was found by the government and read in court, resulting in a 21-year prison sentence for her crimes. Ouch.
The French government has previously been open about using this same method. The Minister of Action and Public Accounts there stated that they look into potential tax scammers’ accounts to see if the person is living beyond their means.
So.. think twice about posing in front of that rental car. “On Instagram straight flexin'” could land you “in prison straight cryin”.
