SZA’s ‘I Hate U’ Sets Apple Music R&B Streaming Record

SZA is having a moment, which she very well deserves.

Her latest song, “I Hate U” is setting records on Billboard and on Apple Music’s R&B Streaming chart. SZA says the song was just an “exercise. I just wanted somewhere to dump my thoughts w out pressure,” which originally was SoundCloud, however, the song gained momentum on TikTok leading her to release the song to streaming services. “I Hate U” has become the most-streamed song by a female R&B singer in its first week and it debuted at number seven on the Hot 100 chart giving SZA her second top ten debut and her fifth top ten song overall. SZA has been working on the follow-up to her 2017 debut album, Ctrl, however between pushbacks from her label, TDE, the singer’s music was delayed from being released in 2021 as promised, but now it seems that fans are demanding new music.
