When Beyonce dropped “Lemonade” silently and without warning, fans weren’t expecting the content to be so personal and raw. The album was all about her marriage and the hurt, pain, and infidelity her and HOV were living through.
At the time, nobody believed it to be true. Fans and critics alike claimed her music was just for entertainment. No one believed the accusations of cheating, loneliness, and divorce that Bey so vividly painted for us in her music. The image that the Carter’s portrayed to the outside world was nothing but happiness, and success. Who would have known the hell she was living through at the time? We weren’t put on to that truth until Jay Z dropped 4:44.
With the release of the album, Jay confesses through the record that he did in fact cheat, and the pain and suffering Beyonce talked about in Lemonade was actually true. He even opened up about the miscarriages Bey had, due to Jay Zs infidelity and distance.
But we wanted more. How? Why? And who is really “Becky with the good hair”?
In his most recent interview, Jay Z opened up about how it happened, why it happened, and how they overcame it. But, “Becky with the good hair” is still a mystery…for now anyway.
