Killer Mike Unleashes New Single “Humble Me” with Striking Video

Arrest at the Grammy Awards Takes Center Stage

Fresh off a monumental Album of the Year win for Michael at the 2024 BET Awards, Killer Mike has dropped a new single, “Humble Me.” Accompanied by a powerful black-and-white music video, the track addresses the rapper’s controversial arrest at the Grammy Awards earlier this year. In the video, Killer Mike is stripped of his jewelry and placed in handcuffs, drawing a parallel between “sitting in a room full of cops” and the Biblical story of Daniel in the lions’ den. Watch it below.

“Technically, I Was Not Supposed to Be Here”

Killer Mike reflected on his turbulent year in a heartfelt and fiery acceptance speech at the BET Awards. “Technically, I was not supposed to be here,” he declared. “I was put in handcuffs, and I was marched out of this building, but I want to tell you, look at God because I’m back, baby. I’m back and I’m winning. I want to tell Black people that, because of BET, I’m back. Not ’cause of no white person calling nobody. A Black man runs this business, a Black company put this show on, and they got my Black ass back in here. Thank y’all.”

Grammy Night Gone Awry

The drama began immediately after Killer Mike clinched three Grammy Awards, including Best Rap Album. The rapper was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery following an altercation with a security guard. However, the case turned positive months later when the Los Angeles city attorney’s office opted not to pursue criminal charges. The decision came after Killer Mike completed the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office’s hearing process and fulfilled a community service requirement.
