Our daughter has been transferred from Primary Children’s NICU to the U of U NICU. This is great news because she is no longer needing possible surgery. With this move, I finally had the beautiful opportunity to have skin to skin contact with Jasmine Mae! This is better known as “Kangaroo Care” with preemie development.
Jasmine’s lungs are developing quicker than the doctors initially expected. This was proven when she coughed out her own ventilation tube! She has remained stable enough to keep off the ventilator. What an amazing baby! I could not hold back the tears of joy when she laid against my chest. She remained very stable through the hour and 20 minutes of skin to skin contact. According to her vital readings, our nurse said Jasmine Mae was loving every minute of our father/daughter interaction!
The moment we shared as father and daughter went wonderfully! I was very nervous at first because of how small and tender she was. But with the nurse’s assurance and help, our hearts connected. I was able to finally smell and hold our tiny miracle, thank you God!
