Quarters Arcade Bar is the first of its kind here in Salt Lake City. The bar, located at 5 E. 400 S. Downtown SLC, allows patrons to enjoy a drink while playing some of their favorite classic arcade games.
The owners of the new establishment, Michael Eccleston and Katy Willis, bought dozens of games for customers to play, including pinball, Skeeball, retro board games, and classic arcade installs. However, the centerpiece of the bar is the coveted, rare “Killer Queen” game which cost $13,000, fundraised by the community. Those who donated to the cause will have a chance to play the game free of charge Thursday from 12 PM to 4 PM, just before the grand opening.
The bar will serve gamer-inspired cocktails like the ‘Techno Pagan”, a nod to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
According to the founders, the arcade bar concept stemmed from wanting to encourage people to put down their phones and enjoy each other’s company more — a perfect date night, right?
