I consider myself a true head of this culture called Hip Hop. Lived the 4 elements since the tender age of 8. I love reliving classic Jamz from my childhood. Each week I will be posting a video here on my blog, dedicated to the lost influential joints from the “Golden Era” of Hip Hop.
This week it’s all about a crew from N.Y. known to the world as the Native Tongues. This crew included groups such as De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Black Sheep and more. I still remember this artist living in my Sony Walkman for months! His album “The Fabulous Chi-Ali” was released in 1992 while he was just 14 years old.
Soon after making noise on radio and video shows such as “Yo MTV Raps!” Chi-Ali was charged with first degree manslaughter, as well as lesser charges. Profiled on “America’s Most Wanted” twice, he served a 12 year prison sentence. Just one of those “rags to riches” stories, but one about a teen living the fast life.
Check out the video for “Age Ain’t Nothing But A #” by artist, Chi-Ali.
HIP HOP CLASSIC!
