Akon is one of several celebrities that have commented on R. Kelly’s verdict in his sexual assault case.
When talking to TMZ Akon said, “I believe that God makes no mistakes. People can debate back and forth all day, but if it’s happening to him, it’s supposed to happen to him for whatever reasons — that’s God’s reasons on why it’s going down.” Akon says R. Kelly has to “reevaluate his whole way of being” and whatever happens to R. Kelly next is “between him and God.” Akon says everyone has the right to redeem themselves, even R. Kelly and he has the right to make amends with the people he hurt and those hurt people have a right to either forgive or not forgive him.
