Hip-Hop’s Finest: Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem’s Electrifying Performance

Kendrick Lamar, a pivotal figure in modern hip-hop known for his profound lyrics and dynamic albums like Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, and To Pimp a Butterfly, joined forces with his cousin Baby Keem, a rising star in the hip-hop scene. Together, they formed the Hillbillies, a nod to their summer hit. Their debut performance as this duo lit up the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium on November 11.

The duo’s setlist included 23 songs, showcasing their individual and combined artistry. They kicked off with “Family Ties,” followed by hits like “Orange Soda,” “Honest,” “Swimming Pools (Drank),” and “Humble.” Lamar, whose latest album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers dropped in 2022, and Keem, with his 2021 release The Melodic Blue, both have a knack for creating music that speaks to the heart of hip-hop culture.

Tyler, The Creator, the mastermind behind Camp Flog Gnaw and known for his innovative music and unique style in albums like Igor and Flower Boy, also graced the stage. His 16-song set was a mix of his well-known tracks, minus any new releases. Tyler’s performance, marked by his signature wit and spectacular use of flamethrowers during “New Magic Wand,” left the audience in awe. Watch Tyler’s full performance below:

The event also saw performances from other hip-hop and music icons. Clipse, reuniting after a decade, Ice Spice, Kali Uchis, BADBADNOTGOOD, Turnstile, and Teezo Touchdown added to the night’s excitement. The festival continued with artists like SZA, Rex Orange County, Earl Sweatshirt, Lil Yachty, and PinkPantheress, making it a landmark event in the hip-hop calendar. Fans worldwide could tune in to the live stream on Amazon Prime, bringing the energy of Camp Flog Gnaw to a global audience.
