The threat that shook SLC – Helen from The Stockist checks in on THE AM ROLL OUT (FULL AUDIO)

It’s insane how fast news can travel. It’s also crazy how much news we all consume on a daily basis, to the point where something could happen a week ago and it feels like a year. That’s how our follow up conversation with Helen, owner of The Stockist in SLC started. But first let’s quickly remind you the story that shook our community.

On Sunday April 11th I was doing my usual Instagram story catch up and I stumbled upon a post from The Stockist IG account.

This was the weekend Utah’s political leadership decided that a mask mandate was no longer necessary, but Salt Lake City still pushed back to not lift it. I was SHOOK. But I wasn’t alone. Read the comments, and see how our community responded. Better yet, imagine working in a boutique and someone so upset to have to put a piece of cloth on their face decides to threaten your lives with a gun. But that’s what exactly happened to Helen and her staff.

“It was actually 24 hours before the police came and spoke to us..”

With a community in outrage over something so insane to happen to one of our own the story quickly became viral and the outpouring of support shows just how dope our community can be when we help each other. I come from a retail background before radio. Dealing with crazy holiday shoppers is one thing.. having your life threatened with violence is a whole other level.

So we reached out to Helen the Monday we told the story and she gracefully set aside time this morning to give Utah an update on the store, it’s employees and the experience they had from the call for help to re-opening their doors and moving forward. Shoutout to Helen and her whole team. As you’ll hear in the interview, we’ve got your back.. and so does this great community.
