Opening 2020…
If you’ve been to the SLC airport within the past few years, you’ve noticed all of the construction going on. Spanning the length of 12 football fields, 1,800 people are working onsite in preparation for the 2020 opening date.
Earlier this week, airport managers took FOX 13 on a tour of the construction zone giving viewers an inside look and what to expect.
The most Utah thing about the new airport will be a special area inside the terminal that will hold 300 to 400 people to gather for missionary homecomings.
The best news about the new airport is that it’s not costing local taxpayers a dime. It’s being built at a cost of $3.6 billion, but the construction project is being funded by bonds, cash-on-hand and ticket, and rental car fees.
