The University of Florida is under fire after footage from their end-of-year commencement ceremony surfaced, showing students being pushed off stage while performing celebratory dances.
Many are accusing the school of racism as the marshall roughly ushered some students off stage — all of whom were black.
The university’s president, W. Kent Fuchs, took to Twitter to apologize, and says that he has reached out to each graduate appearing in the video personally. Fuchs also confirmed that the marshall is being investigated as a result of his actions.
During one of this weekend’s commencement ceremonies, we were inappropriately aggressive in rushing students across the stage. I personally apologize, and am reaching out to the students involved. (1/2)

The practice has been halted for all future ceremonies, and we will work to make sure all graduating students know we are proud of their achievements and celebrate with them their graduation. (2/2)
