Although there are multiple songs associated with the World Cup, the official song is usually the most high-profile and is performed at the finale of the World Cup, which will be watched by an estimated two billion people.
The track will feature Era Istrefi and will be produced by Diplo. It’s set to be released this Friday, May 25.
The 49-year-old Smith is known more for his acting than his musical chops these days. He hasn’t released an album since 2005’s Lost and Found, however, he’s certainly proven his ability to make catchy anthems, especially when they’re tied to big projects (“Men In Black” and “Wild Wild West”).
Past anthems include Pitbull’s “We Are One (Ole Ola)” and Shakira’s “Waka Waka.”
Now let’s just hope Carlton will be doing the backup dancing.
