Today is what some claim is the “birthday of hip hop” after 2 copies of the same record were used to extend the breakbeat at a Back-to-School jam in 1973 in the Bronx, New York. The isolation of the instrumental formed the break which rappers would eventually perform over, creating the basis of the hip hop genre.
Google is paying homage and created a dope informational video about the birth of hip-hop as well as an interactive turntable tutorial.
