One of the most influential Hip-Hop DJ’s of all time is having a birthday.
Kool Herc is turning 65 today (April 16th).
Herc started DJ’ing parties that he and his sister threw in the Bronx. He is known for creating the art of extending the breakbeats on records by using two turntables. Dancers loved the practice.
He also coined the term B-Boys and B-Girls for dancers who wear “breaking” which was slang for acting energetically. The rest is history.
