Floating Comets and Lizard Tongues: Inside Lil Uzi Vert’s “NFL”

Philadelphia’s very own Lil Uzi Vert graced fans with a fresh single, “NFL,” accompanied by a captivating music video. The video showcases the rapper’s unique style, featuring a lizard tongue and scenes set against a backdrop of floating comets and a car that appears to have been struck by one.

A Deeper Dive into “NFL”

While many might associate the title “NFL” with the National Football League, especially given Lil Uzi Vert’s past association with the Philadelphia Eagles, this track offers a twist. The title is “Never Fall in Luv,” as the Be El Be-directed video reveals. The visuals blend carnival scenes and intriguing moments, such as Lil Uzi Vert flaunting a lizard tongue, flaunting his wealth, and delivering his verses atop a car with celestial bodies hovering nearby. There’s even a nod to artist Jimmy Durham, known for his audacious act of dropping a boulder on a Chrysler. Watch the video:

Recent Endeavors and Upcoming Projects

Earlier in July, Lil Uzi Vert treated fans to his extensive 26-song album, Pink Tape. This masterpiece followed his 2020 hits, Eternal Atake and LUV vs. the World 2. Rumor has it that “NFL” is set to feature in his forthcoming album, Luv Is Rage 3, although a release date remains under wraps.

Past Controversies

On a more somber note from last year, Lil Uzi Vert faced legal challenges. He entered a no-contest plea to a felony assault charge involving a firearm and a misdemeanor injury count.
