UVU’s First Female President Will Be Making This Salary

Utah Valley University’s first female President starts on September 16th, and the school has released details about her pay to the Daily Herald.

Astrid Tuminez, currently a regional director for Microsoft, will be leaving her position in Southeast Asia to take over as president of the University in Orem. She’ll be paid just under $300,000 salary, plus a yearly housing allowance of $21,300. The school will also be covering her car and moving expenses. Not a bad gig!

Tuminez will be replacing Matthew Holland, who left to serve an LDS mission in North Carolina.

Philippine-born and raised Dr. Astrid S. Tuminez has overcome her impoverished beginnings to become the first woman president of Utah Valley University (UVU). Dr. Tuminez was named to the post as the 7th president of Utah’s largest public university by its Board of Regents after considering between her and three other candidates who are officials from other universities. Prior to her appointment as UVU president, Dr. Tuminez was the Southeast Asia Microsoft Regional Director for Corporate, External, and Legal Affairs responsible for driving government relations, corporate citizenship, as well as business and regulatory initiatives in the region.
