Jay-Z is set to appear on David Letterman’s Netflix talk show series and in a short preview of the episode (below), Jay gives his thoughts on what makes a rapper good?
According to Jay, it’s the voice and cadence.
“You can have a great voice right, and you can just almost say anything. I think Snoop Dogg has a great voice like he can say, ‘One-two-three into the four,’ and it’s like ‘Oh my God.’ It just sounds good, right?”
He then goes on to compliment Eminem for his cadence and syncopation.
“You almost become a percussion, you know, inside the music. So there’s multiple ways to be like, really good. Some people just have it all.”
Jay’s interview on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction is scheduled to debut on Netflix this Friday (April 6).
