Witchcraft Rising in US As Christianity Declines

A new study claims that witchcraft is on the rise in the United States and Christianity is falling. In a study published by Quartz, the United States’ Wiccan population rose from 8,000 in 1990 to 340,000 in 2018.

Quartz’s Sangeeta Singh-Kurtz and Dan Kopf say that witchcraft has risen in popularity due to the fascination of witches in literature and media. Witchcraft has also been rebranded in recent years to deal more with nature and individuality rather than the occult.

70 percent of Americans still identify as Christian, but affiliation with the religion has been on the decline. Another reason witchcraft is on the rise is due to people who are ant-Trump. At least 13,000 people vowed to cast “binding spells” against Trump.

In 2017 Vogue magazine called for women who sided with the #MeToo movement to recite a feminist spell and join the “witchy renaissance.”

Do you believe that Americans are less Christian?
