Months after his separation from One Direction, Zayn Malik is finally ready to strike out on his own.
Zayn signed with RCA Records in July of this year, so we knew we could expect a solo album. This morning we got a little preview of what to expect.
Malik gave his first interview since leaving One Direction to the folks over at Fader, where he talks about how liberated he feels in his new skin. The solo artist is excited to venture in to a lane that he says he “always wanted to do”.
In the interview we can hear a snippet of what Malik’s solo music will sound like. The interviews features an instrumental of his new single “Befour”.
Although we don’t get any vocals, the instrumental is tantalizing. The former One Direction member has been working with producer and mastermind behind Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange, Malay.
Personally, I cannot wait to hear Malik’s solo work. I imagine that he’ll have a similar sound to where Nick Jonas and Justin Bieber are headed, but with a bit more trance.
Take a listen to the interview, and stay tuned tuned for more.
