Jim Jones recently discussed being on stage with Drake for his Apollo shows. He made Drake an honorary member of Dipset. Jim said, “@champagnepapi official 5th member of #DIPSet.” He continued, “U did that thnku bless up to the whole #OVO.” When Drake took the stage with Dipset, he said, “These guys right here from Harlem made us dress different, talk different, walk different, rap different — all the way in Canada.”

Dipset, known as The Diplomats, was formed in the late ’90s by Cam’ron, Jim Jones, and Freekey Zekey. Juelz Santana joined a few years later. With Cam’ron leading the charge, they released a bevy of classic group and solo albums in the early 2000s.

Drake has habitually ingratiated himself with legendary hip-hop figures, including Houston rap mogul J. Prince, Ghostface Killah, and now Dipset.

Jim recently shared that he had the opportunity to sign Drake but didn’t know how to approach Drake’s ‘square’ image at the time.
